Climbers

Who is it for?
Climbers is a Sunday morning club for children in school years R to 4 (4 year olds to 9 year olds)

1st Sundays of the month, Climbers join us for our Kids' Praise Service.

2nd and 4th Sundays, we start off in church with the rest of our Church family. Children are encouraged to sit with their families so they can become familiar with parts of the Church service. We then move to Peter Street Rooms.

What Do Climbers Do?
Climbers begin their sessions in the Children's Room with the Scramblers. The session begins with singing, and the Climbers are encouraged to help the Scramblers to learn the songs – helping them to develop a ministry to others. We then take a collection which is donated to The Children's Society and The National Children's Home. Climbers then move downstairs to begin their own session. There is an emphasis on having fun in each session and we use games, drama and craft activities to retell and explain Bible stories, and the sessions finish with a creative prayer time. Parents do not usually stay with the Climbers during the session.

What Else?
Climbers are also involved in many of the main Church festivals including our Bonnet Parade on Easter Sunday, making daffodil posies for Mothering Sunday and performing a usually chaotic version of the Nativity story at Christmas. The children are often asked to be involved in the Church services and they are viewed as important member of the congregation. Recent social activities have included a pancake party, Christmas swimming party and summer picnic.

Your Child
Whilst your child is at Climbers, he or she will be looked after by our team of leaders. The leaders will pray with and for your child, but if you have any specific prayer requests, do let one of the leaders know.  When your child first comes along to Climbers you will be asked to complete a simple form. This asks for your name, contact details and any medical information we might need to know when caring for you child, for example food allergies. This information is kept confidential and only viewed by the Climbers' leaders.

Climbers Leaders

All leaders complete a CRB check and are authorised by our Appointed Child Protection Officer before joining the team. The Climbers' leaders all have a great deal of experience of working with young children. There are always two leaders/helpers at any Climbers' session. The leaders follow planned activities which always uphold and support the Christian teachings followed by our Church

Scramblers

Who is it for?
Sunday morning club for babies, toddlers and children until they start school (4 years)

1st Sundays of the month, Scramblers join us for our Kids' Praise Service.

2nd and 4th Sundays, we start off in church with the rest of our Church family. There is a Children’s Corner at the back of the church where children can play quietly whilst parents join in with the first part of the service. Then we move to Peter Street Rooms where Scramblers meet in The Children's Room on the top floor.

What Do Scramblers Do?
Every Scrambler has a sticker card and each week the children receive a sticker. They can swap five stickers for a prize. Each Scramblers' session begins with singing, and we are always learning new songs – most of which require very energetic  actions!  We then take a collection which is donated to The Children's Society and The National Children's Home. During the sessions, the children are involved in retelling a Bible story. There is always something to make to take home and we finish with a creative prayer time and plenty of time to play under the supervision of our team of leaders. Parents are encouraged to return to church for the main service once the children have settled.

What Else?
Scramblers are also involved in many of the main Church festivals including our bonnet parade on Easter Sunday, making daffodil posies for Mothering Sunday and performing a usually chaotic version of the Nativity story at Christmas. The children are often asked to be involved in the Church services and they are viewed as important member of the congregation.

We also arrange a variety of social activities throughout the year including a pancake party, Christmas party, Teddy Bears' Picnic and many more.

The Children's Room
The Children’s Room is used only for children and so is decorated and resourced appropriately.

We have a variety of toys including train sets, play kitchen, slide, rockers, jigsaws, Lego, tents and tunnels.  We have an art room for messy activities and a comfy feeding chair for breastfeeding mums.

Your Child
Whilst your child is at Scramblers, he or she will be looked after by our team of leaders. The leaders will pray with and for your child, but if you have any specific prayer requests, do let one of the leaders know.  If your child needs the toilet they will be taken by one of our leaders and we will change nappies if you request it. When your child first comes along to Scramblers you will be asked to complete a simple form. This asks for your name, contact details and any medical information we might need to know when caring for you child, for example food allergies. This information is kept confidential and only viewed by the Scramblers leaders.

Scramblers Leaders
All leaders complete a CRB check and are authorised by our Appointed Child Protection Officer before joining the team. At present all the Scramblers' leaders have young children themselves. There are always two leaders/helpers at any Scramblers' session. The leaders follow planned activities which always uphold and support the Christian teachings followed by our Church.
