Flower Guild

Only during Lent and Advent are there no flowers in the church. At all other times there are three arrangements - one at the altar and one on each of the two cross aisle pillars. The altar arrangement is usually done on a pedestal but it does not have to be a large display and neither does it have to have a vast number of flowers. Foliage with its many shades can make a very pleasing display.

At the Church Festival times, Easter, Harvest and Christmas there are many more arrangements. Then we have to muster all our members to help.

There are not many ladies in the Flower Guild now but they all want very much to be able to keep the church decorated each week and at these special times.

We really would like to have more ladies or gentlemen to join us. This doesn't mean that they have to be experienced flower arrangers - we were all beginners once and have learnt from each other and with practise. We work in pairs so newcomers would always have someone with them to help and assist as much as needed. The cost of flowers can always be met from the funds we have in the Guild - money which is donated and also which we raise at various times. Easter is a time when, if anyone wishes to remember a relative or friend by having a lily placed in Church, a donation can be made to the Guild for this.

So, please if you feel you would like to 'have a go' do come and join us, you will be most welcome. We would really love to see some of the younger members of the congregation too - maybe they would bring some new ideas about floral decorations in the church.

Speak to Sheila Bays, our Chairman or to Rita Elwood the Vice-Chairman and they will be only too happy to arrange one of us to be with you when you start.
