The Methodists
Shepton Mallet Methodist Church meets for worship most Sunday mornings at 11 o’clock. These Services are held in Shepton Parish Church where there is a sharing agreement with the Anglicans. Revd Roly Sims is the minister to us and several other Methodist churches in the area. He generally holds a Communion Service for us on the 4th Sunday of each month
Shepton Methodists are relatively small in number – currently about 12 in all, but this figure includes a local preacher and two worship leaders. Currently the Church is part of West Mendip Circuit but on September 1st 2009 this is changing to Somerset Mendip Circuit - a new circuit formed by the merger of the existing Circuits of Frome, Somerset Mission and West Mendip.
Janet Day is the Wells / Shepton Mallet Church and Community Worker and both Anglicans & Methodists help her with the Hillmead Project, which provides Christian based school holiday activities for primary school children on the estate of Hillmead in Shepton Mallet.
The Methodists play an active part in Churches Together locally, supporting events which endeavour to share our faith through words and deeds.
On the 3rd Sunday of each month, and at the Christian festivals, joint Anglican Methodist Family Services are held – usually at 10 am. On these Sundays, there is no Methodist Service at 11 am.
Details of all services are normally displayed on the notice board outside the Parish Church and anyone wanting further information should contact Marion Knight on 01749 342605 or Chloe Baker on 01749 342649
