Our new Associate Vicar Revd David Parr was licenced to the Benefice on Saturday 26th April 2008.

Bishop Peter Price was there to officiate and welcome David into the parishes of Shepton Mallet and Doulting with West Cranmore.

The weather was glorious and helped to ensure a wonderful afternoon for David and his friends and family from Devon and beyond.

We welcome you David to our Benefice and wish you well in your future ministry with us.

Fred Hill's 98th Birthday
Fred's 98th Birthday Fred's 98th Birthday Fred's 98th Birthday
It was a great pleasure to see Fred Hill and his family arrive in church on Sunday 30th September to celebrate Fred's 98th birthday.

The congregation sang Happy Birthday, and presented Fred with a card and a cake. Fred managed to "Praise The Lord" the moment he walked into church and delighted us with his smile and good humour!

Happy Birthday Fred and many happy returns!
Martin Wood's Departure
Woods' Farewell Woods' Farewell Woods' Farewell
Our Senior Assistant Priest Martin Wood and his family said a fond farewell to the congregation of Shepton Mallet on Sunday 20th May 2007. After nearly four years' with us, Martin was sent off to his new parish in the diocese of Exeter with a presentation in church followed by a packed bring and share lunch in Peter Street Rooms.

There was standing room only for a super buffet lunch followed by an AV presentation by Bethan Crisfield and a few farewell speeches.

Good-bye Martin, Laura, Martha, Miriam and Seth. We have greatly benefited from your time with us and we will miss you dearly.

God Bless you all in your new parish! keep in touch!

Betty Craig's Family
On Sunday 22nd April 2007, Betty Craig's extended family arrived at church to celebrate Betty's 80th birthday. The traditional birthday cake accompanied coffee time after the service.

Many happy returns Betty!
Mothering Sunday 2007
Daffodils Daffodils Daffodils
As is the tradition (for almost the past twenty years), a group of youngsters and their mums joined the band of daffodil pickers at Jean and Laurie White's house Cleevers for the annual 'pick and bundle' ceremony in mid March 2007.

Despite the warmer weather we've experienced this year - giving some species a head start - there were plenty of blooms available leaving the Whites to enjoy those that were left behind!
Ordination Service at St Peter & St Paul's
Ordinands Behind Bars!! Richard's Ordination Picnic
Five candidates were ordained at a wonderful service held at our church on Saturday 1st July 2006. The Bishop of Bath and Wells, Rt Revd Peter Price ordained as priests: Revd Michael Cummings of Langport Area Team Ministry, Revd Barry Davies of Hardington Vale, Revd Richard Kirlew of Castle Cary with Ansford, Revd Mike MacCormack of Martock with Ash, Revd Richard Reakes of Shepton Mallet with Doulting and Cranmore.

The church was full of visiting clergy, and the families and friends of the five ordinands.

The next day, own own Richard Reakes celebrated his first communion service at the church followed by a benefice picnic in the churchyard. A splendid weekend!
