Peter Street Rooms Renovation

Our parish rooms were renovated to a high standard about five years ago. New floors were installed, along with new lighting, seating and a disabled persons' toilet.

Currently, the exterior of the building is in need of care and repair. The west gable end was re-rendered towards the end of 2009 with many cracks and leaks repaired to the areas which had caused water ingress over the years.

At the start of October 2010, the decorators have been in to treat and paint all exterior woodwork. They've repaired guttering, broken panes and cleared areas of vegetation.

We also put out to tender a range of internal repairs, particularly to the Mendip Room and Somerset Room west walls which have suffered over the years from the damp seeping through.

It was decided at PCC level to put a hold on this work until funds are available to complete the project. It was felt desirable to concentrate the efforts on the external areas of the building in readiness for the onslaught of winter.
