Children's and Youth Worship

Children's Worship GroupAt St Peter and St Paul we try to offer something for all young people from year 6 and above. We want to recognise the individuality of all young people and encourage them to reach their potential. Young people are a major resource of our Church now and we aim to encourage and promote the good that they bring to us as well as be challenged by the freshness and energy that they have.

Cave Night is an opportunity to simply chill out, play computer games, watch a DVD, get involved in arts & craft or just catch up with friends. Cave Night is always the first Saturday of the month (except August), and runs from 19.30 until 22.00. Parents can always collect their children earlier if felt appropriate.

Community Involvement - Previously, as part of the national HOPE 08 Initiative we got involved in a few community social action projects, cleaning buildings and litter picking. The plan is to do more things that will help us to be a greater part of our community.

InSpirit - Formerly known as our Children's Worship Group InSpirit meets weekly on a Wednesday Night at 17.15 for about an hour. This group of young people helps to lead the sung worship at St Peter and St Paul's Church. The children are also keen to develop dance and drama as part of their worship.

Sunday Mornings - From September 2009 we've made some changes to our youth programme.

Our first change is a new group for those in year 5, 6 and 7. We meet in the Cave on Sunday mornings during the 09.25 service. This group is beginning to explore what it means to follow Jesus and how He relates to everyday life.

Sunday mornings is often a difficult time for teenagers to meet due to sports, music and other commitments. With this in mind and after a lot of prayer, thought and discussion we decided to change the meeting time of the Pathfinder and CYFA group (Year 7+).

From September 6th 2009 - We will meet on Sunday evenings from 18.00 until 20.00.

This term we will follow the Youth Alpha Programme. For more information see www.youthalpha.org. Each session will begin with a meal followed by games, a talk and discussion groups. We hope that this will help young people understand and deepen their faith as well as give them an opportunity to ask questions as they discuss their faith in small groups. We hope that this will be something that young people will feel able to invite their friends to.

On the 2nd Sunday of the month Youth Praise will continue as usual with no Youth Alpha.

Breakfast Club - On the 1st Sunday of the month there will be breakfast club during the 09.25 service for all in year 5 and above followed by the Kids' Praise Service, which is an opportunity for the young people to support this service.

Youth Bible Study Group - At the request of our young people we have begun a fortnightly bible study group. This is an opportunity to explore the bible and see its relevancy today for them as teenagers.

Youth Service - Aimed at and led by young people our lively monthly Youth Praise draws in young people from around the area. We are also joined by many over 25s who just enjoy this style of worship. Our worship band of enthusiastic, loyal and talented young people lead the sung worship and are always seeking to introduce us to new ways of worship.

Confirmation preparation - For those young people who have already been baptised we offer the opportunity to affirm their faith for themselves through Confirmation. We run a four week preparation course looking at what we believe as Christians and how it relates to life the 21st century.

Baptism for teenagers - At St Peter and St Paul's we offer a choice of baptism style for young people who were not Christened as babies or children. We offer the traditional style of baptism at the font or baptism by immersion.
